WHAT IS IT?
WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?
GOALS
At Newman Catholic School, we cultivate a strong sense of belonging, leadership, and faith through our Community Program, rooted in Catholic tradition and identity. All students in grades 6–12 are welcomed into one of four Communities, each named after a beloved Saint: St. Padre Pio, St. Aloysius Gonzaga, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, St. Teresa of Calcutta.
When students begin their middle school journey at Newman, they are placed into one of these Communities, where they remain throughout their school years.
Within each Community, students are assigned to a House—a small, mixed-grade group led by a Mentor Teacher. These Houses meet daily, creating space for faith formation, character development, and relationship-building across grade levels.
Nearly all school activities are infused with the spirit of Community, as students participate in House challenges, service projects, academic initiatives, and school-wide events, all contributing to the pursuit of the coveted Cardinal Cup.
Remaining in the same House over the years allows students to develop meaningful, lasting relationships with peers, mentors, and the broader Newman Catholic family. Through this model, students grow in leadership, responsibility, and discipleship, fully embracing our mission to form minds and hearts for Christ.
At Newman Catholic School, we believe that authentic relationships are at the heart of every student’s spiritual journey. Through our daily House gatherings, we intentionally cultivate meaningful connections that lead students closer to Christ.
Students are called to walk alongside peers and mentors who are actively living their faith—creating a safe and welcoming environment where they can come to know and love Jesus personally.
Our House Community Program shapes hearts to be “other-centered” rather than “self-centered.” Through shared moments of joy, service, and friendly competition within their Communities, students learn to live with generosity, humility, and purpose.
When students feel truly known, valued, and loved, they experience the freedom to grow—not only in faith, but in every area of life, including their academic pursuits, personal development, and leadership potential.
Lead every Newman Catholic student to know and love Jesus Christ more deeply, and to reflect that love in authentic relationships within our school and wider community.
Provide personalized care and support by ensuring each student has at least two dedicated adults who will intentionally monitor and guide their academic, social, and spiritual formation.
Deepen our ministry by fully embracing the Catholic faith, values, and traditions that shape every aspect of life at Newman.
Foster a strong sense of unity and “Newman Family Spirit” within the 6th–12th grade community, while nurturing connection across all grade levels.
Equip students for leadership by offering meaningful opportunities to be trained and empowered as servant leaders within both the school and broader Church.
Strengthen interpersonal and relationship-building skills, helping students become compassionate communicators and faithful friends.
Extend the reach of our Catholic witness by encouraging students to build bridges and serve beyond Newman Catholic School—into families, parishes, and the greater community.
